By Listening and talking to them you have a better chance to help the student develop appropriate attitudes toward the driving task.  

Communicate with a calm and pleasant voice level.  Reinforce good driving behavior or safe driving habits whenever possible.

The best way to encourage proper driving behavior and development of good driving skills is to demonstrate good driving attitudes and practices.

Supervised driving practice.  Start your child with short to medium trips.  Restrict the use of vehicle for unnecessary extended hours.  

Be aware of what's going on around the vehicle.  Never drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  Always wear a safety belt.  Always obey the driving rules and traffic laws.  Be courteous and display a good attitude.
